Trying to beat long-time restricted-winners DK0MN/p sounded like a good goal, anyway! Due to poor propagation the contest was very slow going, but we were able to maintain a marginal QSO lead to 0MN/p until the end. Unfortunately we did not get the full 24h of operating time, mainly due to a few generator failures. The generator even caught fire while I was filling it up during the night! I grabbed a big towel, closed both the tank and the can (out of which flames were blazing out) and ran away. Luckily, nothing happened, and the wooden club house is still there. It turned out that 0MN/p got a slightly superior multiplier which puts us right behind them on the rumours. Harry already plans for next year... |
