My dad Ralph DJ1DB woke my interest in electronics, the code and radio. I remember how we spent evenings together building receivers and reactivating his homebrew tube equipment. When I was a young boy it was an amazing experience to hear him reporting news on 20m phone while on a business trip to Greece.

He is a professor of theoretical physics at the University of Karlsruhe and loves his job because he is mostly allowed to do what he is interested in and he has many nice colleagues and young students all around him.

Though he might sometimes shake his head when I´m running up and down the garden stringing wires he is certainly pleased to have infected his son with some of his interests. I´m very grateful about his support whatever I do!

As we all keep him busy he has little time for the radio but recently his activity level has increased. We are both looking forward to finish the new shack and checking the bands together!
